Every one of us, by order of our Baptism, is called to be a Disciple of Jesus Christ. The root word for "disciple" in Greek means "to learn" -- to be a disciple means to be a learner. To be a disciple is to be engaged in the life-long process of learning from and about Jesus Christ, and so to come to know him more and more deeply.
The Latin root of the word 'disciple" is the same as for "discipline." Taken together, these root words point us to the understanding that this life-long learning process must be intentional and disciplined. The Call of discipleship is the call to be committed to this life-long process of being formed in faith.
At St. Andrew by the Bay, we commit ourselves to providing quality opportunities for faith-formation for all members of our faith community: adults, youth, and children.
We urge you, in turn, to take your calling as disciple seriously, and commit yourself and your household to this amazing life-long journey of being formed in faith.
