Health

If your child is ill, we ask that you please keep him/her home from preschool. It is a common courtesy to avoid spreading germs to classmates as well as the teachers. A runny yellow/green nose and/or cough may be the beginnings of something more serious that can easily spread in our preschool environment. When children are feeling this way, they are not themselves and they tend to be tired, irritable, sensitive, etc. In short, they are not having fun! If a child has been sent to school and the staff feels as though the child is not feeling well enough to participate, or has gotten worse throughout the day, St. Andrew by the Bay Preschool reserves the right to notify parents or guardians, as well as emergency contacts, to get your child home and comfortable as soon as possible. Should we notice a suspected rash or anything else that may be a communicable (contagious) disease, we also reserve the right to notify parents, guardians or emergency contacts. If you have sent your child to school with a suspect symptom, after seeing a doctor, we request a note from your doctor stating that your child is not contagious or that they are able to be in school.

We consider a fever to be anything above 99.5 Fahrenheit; a child with a fever will be separated from the class and rest until he/she is picked up.

Your child must be FREE of fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea for at least 24 hours (without the use of medication), before returning school.

Additional information regarding our illness policy can be found in the Parent Handbook.
