Music Ministries

Music Ministry as Bible Study!

When our community is asked about what kind of programming they would like for Faith Formation, Bible Study is always at the top of the list.  In addition to the many offerings our Faith Formation Committee provides, I would also like to offer music ministry as another option.  The liturgical music we sing at Mass is deeply rooted in scripture.  People are often surprised to know how many Bible verses they know because of the songs we sing:  "On Eagle's Wings" (Psalm 91), "Blest Are They" (Matthew 5:3-12), "Be Not Afraid" (Isaiah 43:2-3) and countless others.  Additionally, many of our lyrics are based on texts from a variety of saints, church scholars and theologians.  The singing of these texts provides a unique opportunity for reflection, study and prayer of the Word of God.  Rehearsal for music ministry is not simply a process of learning notes and rhythms, but a deep study into the teachings of the Bible and the Catholic Church.  Choir provides an enriching small faith group experience to grow in your understanding of sacred scripture.
