Parish Library/Narthex Book Rack


Our Parish Library is located in the Parish Center. Hours of operation are Sundays 9:00-11:30am (staffed) and weekdays 8:30am-4:00pm and when PREP is in session (self service).

Borrow traditional, classic, and contemporary books:

  • The Bible and books about Scripture
  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and books about what we believe and why.
  • Lives of the saints, and the voices of contemporary Catholics
  • Children’s books and video-tapes
  • Books on parenting, marriage, grief, suffering

  • Books on prayer, spirituality, retreats
  • Prayer shawls available to remind you that you are wrapped in the arms of God.

U.S. Catholic

  • Award winning magazine published by the Claretians, beginning in 1935.
  • “We invite and help our readers to explore the wisdom of their faith tradition and to apply that faith to the challenges of life in the 21st century. U.S. Catholic does not claim to have all the answers but is committed to voicing and raising the questions American Catholics grapple with. America

  • A national Jesuit magazine founded in 1909, published weekly.
  • Mission statement: “America is a Catholic media ministry that interprets the Church for the world and the world for the Church. It is a forum for discussion of religion, society, politics and culture from a Catholic perspective. The Ignatian tradition of ‘finding God in all things’ and the promotion of justice shape our community. . . . A resource for spiritual renewal and social analysis guided by the spirit of charity.”
  • At www.americamagazine.org, you’ll also find book reviews, poetry, and podcasts from the likes of Stanley Hauerwas and Luke Timothy Johnson.
  • America’s Catholic Book Club recommends a new book each month.

National Catholic Register

  • Founded in 1927, National Catholic Register’s mission is “to inform, inspire, challenge and equip active Catholics to engage the culture with confidence.” It covers topics such as the Culture of Life, Catholic education, books, arts and entertainment.
  • See www.ncregister.com for breaking news, columns by Michael O’Driscoll and Mark Shea, blogs by Pat and Matthew Archbold, Tim Drake, and Matthew Warner, and print resources from Circle Press.

National Catholic Reporter

  • Founded in 1964, NCR has been the recipient for the last 9 years of the highest award for journalism from the Catholic Press Association.
  • A print and web resource that is “an independent, journalistic outlet for Catholics and others who struggle with the complex moral and societal issues of the day.” It’s mission statement reads, in part: “[NCR] seeks to inform and inspire a just and peaceful world, serving as a platform for discussions of church, society and global community.”
  • See www.ncronline.org for podcasts, NCR Today Catholic blog, and columns like “The Peace Pulpit” by Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, “Essays in Theology” by Richard McBrien, and “Spiritual Reflections” by Joyce Rupp.
