Sacramental Registration

The year a child prepares for their 1st reconciliation is a beautiful and faith-forming year for the entire family. A child receives these first sacraments after the family and the faith formation leaders have discerned that there is a sacramental readiness. Receiving First Reconciliation and First Eucharist should be when a child is spiritually ready; this could be 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or even 5th grade. Engaging in the year of sacramental preparation should be carefully considered, especially if there are other impactful family events happening that year. We truly hope that you reach out to us with any questions or concerns, and remember that we are blessed to be a part of your child’s religious formation. We pray that both our staff and families remain ever present to the movement and guidance of the Holy Spirit, bringing your children closer to Christ through these blessed sacraments.

All children who are in their second consecutive year of faith formation can prepare for the sacraments of 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion. Per our guidelines, children must receive their First Reconciliation PRIOR to receiving First Communion, and attend all Sacramental meetings. The discernment process for each sacrament takes place throughout the ENTIRE year, even after registration.

Confirmation

Within the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the confirmation age has officially changed to 9 years of age, instead of the previous age of 15. If you have a child approaching the age of 9, or past the age of 9 who hasn't received the sacrament of confirmation, please contact Jen Minor at jminor@standrewbythebay.org or call at 410-974-4366.

Looking to help?

We are thankful for the parents and volunteers who help make children's ministries possible. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help, please contact Jen Minor at jminor@standrewbythebay.org.

Ways to volunteer

Volunteering in a PREP class

Our Faith Formation program runs on volunteers for our faith formation classes.  Each of our Guided Faith Formation classes this year need both a catechist (teacher) and an aide.  If you are looking for a way to connect with kids and journey with them through their faith formation, this is a great place to give your time.

Volunteering for event

Are you unable to help with the faith formation classes, but still want to interact with the Parish children as they follow Jesus?  Our program has many events that require volunteers and/or chaperones.  A few of these include; Sacramental Retreats, Dove Service Trips, and Vacation Bible Camp.

Helping from home

If you would like to give your time to our program within your schedule at home, we would love to know!  There are events that require cutting, material preparation, or even helping to think and plan for fun activities with the kids in their various ages and groups.
