Knights of Columbus

Knights are Catholic men, 18 years of age and older, who are committed to making their community a better place, while supporting their Church.  Being a Knight is more than camaraderie. It is being involved with your community, supporting St. Andrew by the Bay Church, enhancing your own faith, while protecting and enhancing your family life. This booklet offers an overview of what it means to be a member of the Knights of Columbus.

St. Andrew by the Bay Knights of Columbus Council #11552 was established on April 20, 1995.  Imagine being part of an organization that fills your heart and your mind with the joy of giving to others and the feeling that comes with making a difference.  To join or obtain more information, visit https://www.sabbkofc.org/ or contact Grand Knight Joe Walker at 703-731-4567 or at kofc11552gk@gmail.com.

Vivat Jesus!

Beer & Barron

WHO: Men of any age interested in the fearless orthodoxy, vivid faith and jovial community of Christian fellowship.

WHAT: Informally hang out and talk about topics important to Catholic men.  We socialize for about 45 minutes over beverages and snacks.  (Despite the group name, alcohol's not the point - non-alcoholic options abound.)  Then we share a short prayer, watch a video (usually from Word on Fire), and discuss it as a group.  There's no formal curriculum, but the connections and solidarity that grow out of these sessions mean a lot.

WHEN: 7:30-9:30 p.m. every other Thursday.

WHERE: Private homes.   We coordinate the meetings through our Google Group and a Google calendar. (No pressure to host  - some guys host a lot, others never).

HOW: We invite you to drop in and check us out.  There's no commitment - we say "once is better than never."

Cor Men's Faith Formation Group

“Cor” is Latin for “heart”, and the program exists to form and strengthen Catholic men in faith and virtue as missionary disciples by drawing them into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, formation, and fraternity. Meeting topics vary and will include bible study, formative videos, other spiritually engaging content, group discussion and refreshments.

Cor meets twice a month at 7PM on Wednesday evening in the lower hall. Contact Joe Walker at 703-731-4567 or walkerjd4@gmail.com for more information.

… He saw Simon and Andrew … casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.   And Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men." (Mark 1:16-17)

Exodus 90

Men, are you ready to challenge yourself to become uncommonly free?

“It is normal for men to be distracted, addicted, and enslaved by so many things today--social media, sports, work, comparison, achievement, wealth, legacy, gambling, alcohol, pornography. What is uncommon in our time is men who are free. A free man is not a perfect man but one who remembers who he is: a son of God whom God has called forth for LOVE. And, the free man knows how much more he can become by the power of grace unfolding in his life over time.”

The Challenge

Father Tyler is asking the men in our parish to join alongside one another and take up the 90-day challenge (starting 20 Jan) or a 50-day challenge (starting 1 Mar) to become uncommonly free men through a commitment to daily prayer, asceticism, and fraternity. We will use the established Exodus 90 program to guide us through this challenge culminating on Easter Sunday. Join the Brotherhood and let’s complete this Spiritual Boot Camp together.
